At Tribeca Dental, we take a holistic approach to dental care and practice biomimetic dentistry, a 21st century approach to repairing and restoring damaged teeth.
Biomimetic dentistry focuses on minimally invasive techniques which preserve tooth structure and restore the strength, function, and aesthetics of damaged teeth by using materials that mimic natural tooth structure and biology.
Developments in ceramics, composite resin, and bonding have led to the creation of materials which closely emulate tooth structures, such as enamel and dentine, allowing us to produce tooth-like restorations.
We believe aesthetics is equally important as tooth conservation techniques and solutions. Our practice strives to preserve our patients’ teeth in a way that respects the biological structure of the tooth, as well as maintaining the health and integrity of the tooth’s nerve.
Biomimetic restorations that we offer include:

If you are concerned about your gum health, the team at Tribeca Dental can advise, treat, and provide support and guidance to help you reverse early gum disease. We encourage regular check–ups and professional cleaning to keep gum disease under control or eliminated completely.
Gum (periodontal) disease is inflammation and infection affecting the gum, deeper connective tissue, and bone structure (periodontal tissues) that surround and support your teeth. It is a widespread condition that affects most people at some stage during their life and is a major cause of tooth loss in adults.
It occurs when dental plaque and calculus deposits accumulate at or below the gum line level of the tooth. The bacteria present in the deposits produces toxins causing damage and destruction of the periodontal tissues. Poor oral hygiene, such as infrequent or ineffectual brushing and flossing, along with irregular visits to your dentist are common causes of gum disease.
The bacteria that causes tooth decay and gum disease can enter your body and effect other parts of your body, such as your heart. Chronic gum inflammation and infection (gingivitis and periodontitis) may increase your risk of heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and other inflammatory conditions.
The two stages of gum disease, from least to most severe, are gingivitis and periodontitis.
Gingivitis is the first stage of gum disease and occurs at the gum line level of the tooth. It is reversible and with early detection, gingivitis is easily treated and can be eliminated by professional removal of plaque and calculus supported by good oral hygiene practices, daily brushing and flossing at home.
If the problem is left it may progress to periodontitis which causes loss of gum attachment and bone. In its early stages, periodontitis does not cause pain and can progress unnoticed. In most cases, periodontal disease responds well to treatment and despite the destruction being largely irreversible, its progression can be halted. Early intervention minimises or helps avoid a more complex and costly treatment.
Early gum disease is usually painless, so it is important to be aware of any of the following symptoms:

Root canal treatment is the removal of an inflamed or infected nerve within the roots of the tooth.
Inflammation or infection can have a variety of causes: deep decay, repeated dental procedures on the tooth, trauma, or a crack in the tooth. If left untreated it can cause severe pain or lead to an abscess and swelling as the infection spreads to the gums or the jaw bone.
While this treatment is often assumed to be a painful procedure, the reality is with new developments in techniques, technology, and pain-relief, root canal treatment can be comfortable and effective, with a success rate as high as 90%. Where possible, you should always consider treatments to save your teeth, rather than the alternative of removal of a tooth.
During root canal treatment, which is carried out under local anaesthetic, the inflamed or infected nerve tissue is removed, and the inside of the tooth is decontaminated and cleaned, then filled and sealed. Afterwards, the tooth is restored with a crown or an overlay for protection, leaving it as good as new.
Six signs that can indicate you may need root canal treatment are:
If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, we recommend you contact Tribeca Dental immediately, so we can resolve your pain and ensure it does not escalate into a major dental complication.

Crafted from the highest quality ceramics, inlays and onlays are designed to restore form and function to weakened teeth. Both can be used to achieve durable, natural looking results.
These restorations can preserve more of the natural tooth structure and are considered a more conservative and less invasive treatment compared to crowns.
Another major benefit is they strengthen teeth by bonding to surrounding tooth structure, protecting against breakage and future decay.
These restorations are precisely designed and fabricated outside of the mouth, before being bonded to the prepared cavity of the tooth.

If you have one or more teeth that are missing, implants are an alternative to traditional dentures and bridges. They are titanium screws that are precisely positioned in the jaw bone under the gum. Over time the implants fuse to the bone creating a strong and stable support. A crown, bridge or denture is attached to the implants creating the most natural and life-like solution to missing teeth.
Implant dentistry is done in stages and involves meticulous planning and an integrated approach. For this reason, we are linked with a network of Melbourne’s leading implant specialists to provide this treatment to patients. We can make referrals as required while still maintaining overall responsibility for your final restorations and dental care.

At Tribeca Dental, our crowns are precisely engineered and crafted by master dental technicians in Melbourne, resulting in restorations that look and feel like your natural teeth.
This is the recommended treatment for a tooth that has become functionally compromised and is at risk of further breakdown or fracture. A crown allows us to rebuild and strengthen a weakened tooth, as well as change a tooth’s overall appearance. They enclose the entire visible portion of a tooth, effectively becoming a new outer surface.
They can be made of ceramic, gold, or a combination of both and provide a durable and aesthetic long–term solution. Modern ceramic crowns (Zirconia and E.Max) have similar optical properties to enamel and allow us to imitate the natural beauty of tooth structure.

A dental bridge may be a suitable alternative to implants or removable partial dentures, when replacement of one or more missing teeth is required.
Over time, missing teeth can cause a change in your bite, unfavourable movement of your teeth, increased loading on your remaining teeth, and greater risk of decay and gum disease.
Although the cosmetic impact of missing teeth is often of concern, the greater issue is its impact on the ability to chew food and the maintenance of healthy gums when teeth surrounding the gap begin to shift. A dental bridge provides significant aesthetic and practical benefits, restoring chewing function and oral health.
Typically, a bridge spans the space created by one or more missing teeth. They require shaping of the teeth on each side of the space. Crowns are placed over the prepared teeth and are joined by the replacement tooth, with the false tooth forming a bridge. This is permanently bonded to the prepared teeth. A bridge is the preferred treatment when teeth adjacent to the space are heavily restored and structurally weak, worn or eroded.
Your bridge can last for many years if you exercise proper oral hygiene and visit your dentist for regular check–ups.

Commonly made from porcelain or composite resin, dental veneers are designed to improve the colour, shape, size, and length of teeth. Gaps can be closed, and unsightly or misshapen teeth can be disguised to blend in with your other teeth.
Crafted by our master dental technicians in Melbourne, our porcelain dental veneers are life-like, thin, tooth-coloured shells which are bonded to the front surface of natural teeth.
Please call us on (03) 9419 2255 or book an eAppointment.
With major advances in dental technology and materials, tooth-coloured composite resin restorations can blend in harmoniously with your natural teeth. In small to medium sized cavities, they allow for less drilling and greater preservation of healthy tooth structure. Another benefit of tooth-coloured restorations is they assist in restoring the original strength of your tooth by bonding to the surrounding natural tooth structure.

At Tribeca Dental, professional teeth whitening is one of our most requested cosmetic dental procedures. We offer a quick, safe, non-invasive, and affordable way to enhance your smile by revitalising the colour of your teeth.
Our whitening treatments, in-chair Zoom3 and professionally dispensed at-home whitening systems, are effective and proven to give you the best and lasting results.
In-chair Zoom3 whitening can improve the colour of your teeth in a short period of time. This procedure involves a carefully controlled application of a high concentration of peroxide gel to the teeth, after the gums have been protected with a paint-on gum barrier. The peroxide remains on the teeth for three 15 minute intervals. From start to finish the process takes approximately 90 minutes. While results are immediate, we include our take-home whitening kit to help you achieve optimal results and for maintenance of your brighter, whiter teeth.
At home-whitening is our most popular and affordable whitening service, giving you the flexibility and convenience of whitening your teeth at home. Customised-trays are fabricated from moulds of your teeth. The peroxide gel is carefully placed in the tray and worn over your teeth. Depending on the gel concentration, the trays are worn for an hour or overnight and is repeated for up to 10-14 days.
Both in-chair Zoom3 and at-home whitening offer excellent results – it really comes down to personal preference.
At Tribeca Dental, we offer a complimentary whitening consultation to assess your suitability and help you decide which whitening solution is best for you.

Bruxism is the involuntary grinding of teeth and clenching of jaw muscles usually during sleep and times of stress. Some individuals even do this when they are awake. It is a common condition, affecting over 90% of the population, with many unaware of the damage this causes.
When it occurs, the upper and lower jaws clench together, with up to five times greater force than during normal chewing activity, causing overload of the teeth, jaw muscles, and jaw joint.
Over an extended period, bruxism can lead to excessive and accelerated wear and cracks in teeth, broken restorations, increased teeth sensitivity and tooth mobility, as well as damage to the jaw joint. Significant stress on your jaw muscles and joint can cause pain when chewing, persistent headaches; jaw, facial and neck pain; tight, tired and sore facial muscles when you wake up, along with clicking or locking within the joint.
A customised night guard, worn over either your upper or lower teeth, assists your jaw and facial muscles to relax, preventing further overload. Worn during sleep or stressful periods in the day, night guards protect your teeth and restorations from wear, chipping, and fracture.

We’re always delighted to welcome new patients.
At Tribeca Dental, we pride ourselves on individualised treatment and knowing the status and condition of your teeth and gums is essential in providing you with any treatment or services you require. A comprehensive dental examination is an important first step for anyone who wants to feel confident about their oral health.
We understand when patients first come to us, they may be overwhelmed, fearing what the dentist will find; pain that is associated with dental treatment, and the cost of any dental treatment. We believe that your first visit should not be rushed. There will be ample time to answer any questions or discuss any concerns you may have.
We begin with a discussion about your general and oral health, along with a history of any problems or treatments you may have had in the past. Your concerns, needs, and expectations will be fully explored and discussed. We then perform a thorough examination of your whole mouth, looking closely at your teeth, the gums, and the soft tissues.
Depending on your circumstances, we may advise digital x-rays for diagnosing decay underneath the surfaces of your teeth or under existing restorations and to assess the condition of the bone support around your teeth. From these findings we can provide you with an overview of the condition of your mouth. We will help you understand what treatment you require, if any, and the options available to you.
We take the time to help you understand how you can best achieve and maintain your oral health.
Together, we will devise a treatment plan tailored to your schedule, lifestyle, and budget. A full breakdown of costs will be provided, so you can ensure that your treatment plan is manageable and achievable for you, now and in the future.
We believe that working with you through a holistic approach will enable us to get your teeth, gums and mouth into tip top shape.

Our professionally designed and custom-fitted mouthguard provides effective protection for your mouth and teeth. If you play any contact sport or participate in activities where there is risk of trauma to the face, you risk serious dental injury. Dental injury includes damage to the gums, lips or teeth, tooth fractures, and knocked-out teeth. These injuries can lead to potentially extensive and costly dental treatment.
Mouthguards work by absorbing and spreading the forces arising from damaging impacts, which prevent, or minimise the severity of a dental injury.
